Program Planning for the Mentally Retarded: An Analysis of the Program Content Used by a Social Group of Young Adult Retardates at the Bronx House, a Jewish Community Center in New York City, October, 1961 to March, 1962
Abstract
This study is a group of young adult retardates who compose a social club meeting once a week for a two hour session. The author will attempt to present some community attitudes toward mental retardation and will also consider educational, vocational and social resources within the community. The family constellation and sibling rivalry will be examined in the light of their influence upon the group members. A discussion of ego strengths and weaknesses will conclude the section on social and psychological factors affecting the group members.
