Abstract

The general hypothesis of this study WILL BE to prove why is there a need for professional social services for the Puerto Rican migrant families once they arrived in New York City. This will be done by describing how social casework, social group work and community organization suit the aims and philosophy of the Puerto Rican Family Institute, through their project of integration of the Puerto Rican Migrant Family. It will demonstrate in some detail the functioning of the caseworkers, the community organizer, the integrated families and the godparents group in con- junction with a description of the structure of the project.
