Abstract

The scope of this study is to investigate how the psychiatric social worker has functioned in the Kings County Hospital Mental Hygiene and Child Guidance Clinics. In solving this problem the writer will examine ten cases referred to the Social Service Department from these clinics. attempt to determine the function of the social worker will be considered on the basis of the kinds of casework services given. In analyzing these cases the following question was posed: What is the body of knowledges and the group of skills that can be identified in the handling of cases from the above source?
