Community Organization Method: A Study of This Process in the Community Renewal Program of the City Planning Commission in New York City, 1960-1963

Joseph Patrick Murphy, Fordham University

Abstract

The writer will examine the interpretations to four social concepts that are applicable to the community organization process. These concepts will be analyzed by community organization practitioners employed in the Community Renewal Program. This study is not oriented to discovering whether or not the theories of these concepts are conclusive. Rather the writer defined the concepts and requested the workers to respond to them in terms of their professional activity. Consequently, the dimensions to the se concepts will be studied from professional experiences in this new urban renewal program.
