The Aged: Some Philosophical Implications of Social Casework With Persons Over Sixty-Five Drawn Principally From the Writings of Gabriel Marcel, 1963

Sister Marie Raymond O'Connor, Fordham University

Abstract

It is the purpose of this Dissertation to examine some of the philosophical roots of an effective approach to social casework with persons over sixty-five. It is my conviction that such an investigation can uncover a vital dimension in an understanding of our purposes and goals in rendering casework services to aged people. It is felt that this added dimension is crucial to the provision of satisfactory services to clients, and to the richness of the social worker's experience.
