Abstract

This dissertation is concerned with the Italian War Orphan Program, made possible by the 2(f) section of the Displaced Persons Act of 1948 as amended on June 16, 1950. The focus of the study will be on the adjustment of Italian War Orphans who emigrated to the United States during 1951 and 1952 under the responsibility of Catholic Committee for Refugees and supervised by the Angel Guardian Home. From approximately four hundred and thirty-three children in the United States under the responsibility of Catholic Committee for Refugees, the Angel Guardian Home supervised those in the Brooklyn area which amounted to thirty-seven in number.
