Foster Homefinding: A Descriptive Study of the Social Casework Techniques Utilized in the Home Study Process by Homefinders
Abstract
Background of the Study. The field of child welfare has recognized and defined its responsibility as including the total welfare of the child, his physical, psychological, and social development. The provision of services to meet the child's specific needs to enable him to attain a desirable level of personal and emotional health may include a foster home which is the brick and mortar of a child- 1 caring agency. It is recognized that for a child who needs a foster home as a necessary substitute when neglect, abandonment, death, or mental illness forces break up his home, this foster home becomes the child's day-by-day living situation which is undoubtedly crucial for his continuous growth and healthy development.
