Abstract

Background of the Study: There is a widening gap between the number of applicants seeking help for emotional problems and the staff available in agencies to provide immediate service. When service cannot be given immediately the applicant is placed on the waiting list until an appointment can be arranged for the patient to be seen. The use of the waiting list is on the increase. Recently, there has been greater focus placed on the effect of agency waiting lists on the patient and the clinical staff. Agencies have come to face the reality factor that the waiting list is here to stay. This situation offers us much food for thought and study.
