Delinquent Boys: A Study of the Social Background of Forty Boys Discharged From Lincoln Hall, Lincolndale, New York in 1957
Abstract
The words juvenile delinquent have originated as a result of the action of the social reformers of the middle and late nineteenth century. It is representative of their philosophy and their feeling toward youths in trouble. It was their thinking that the anti-social behavior of a youngster did not warrant the punishment due to an adult criminal but rather a different kind of treatment attuned to their needs.
