Voluntary Agencies and Technical Assistance in the Near East: A Study Sponsored by the American Council of Voluntary Agencies for Foreign Service, Inc., in 1961, Concerning Its Contribution to the Economic Development of Certain Near Eastern Countries
Abstract
On March 10, 1960, the Technical Assistance Projects Committee of the American Council of Voluntary Agencies for Foreign Service, Incorporated, voted to conduct a Near and Middle East study and authorized the appointment of a sub-committee to meet and plan the scope and organization of such a study. It was decided by officers of the two committees that the two projects should be merged; the series of country meetings held under the auspices of the Near and Middle East Committee could serve as additional background material for the Technical Assistance Projects Committee's one-day session or symposium. A memorandum describing the cooperative arrangement, with an outline prepared by the Chairman of the Technical Assistance Projects Committee, Dr. Leland Rex Robinson, describing the purpose and scope of the proposed symposium were circulated to the Near and Middle East Committee.
