Geriatrics 1965: A Survey of the Program of Catholic Charities, Diocese of Rockville Centre

Abstract

The writer's interest in the problems of the aging developed through working during the last year at an agency which dealt with these clients in a newly-organized Geriatrics Department. The idea of Research in this area was further encouraged by the administration of Catholic Charities, Diocese of Rockville Centre, which has a separate Geriatrics Service in the Division of Health and Hospitals. Among the needs of the rapidly developing new diocese is planning for future progress in all divisions of Catholic Charities. The purpose of this study is to survey the present operation and future developments in the area of caring for the aged in order to supply for the agency the facts and figures upon which they can plan programs for the coming years.
