Group Work in a Residential Treatment Center: Implementation by the Group Worker of Information Received From the Psychiatrist, Psychologist and Case Worker at the Astor Home, Rhinebeck, New York, 1960-1961
Abstract
Group work stems from settings that can be generally character ized as settlement houses, recreation centers and other community located agencies dedicated to group services. Constructive use of leisure time, recreation, education, socialization and the resolution of interpersonal and community problems are but a few of the varying services which have been the traditional focus for group work services. The group worker is, in these kinds of settings, with the client in the client's environment, the client's community.
