Child Placement Prevention Unit of New York Catholic Charities 1954 – 1961
Abstract
The origin of this study lies in the fact that the author was part of the staff of the Child Placement Prevention Unit at its establishment in 1954 and has had a personal experience of six years in the unit working mostly with Puerto Rican families. The author was born in Puerto Rico and has lived in the rural areas and small towns of Puerto Rico most of her life. Her major duty while working at the Child Placement Prevention Unit was rendering casework services to Puerto Rican families.
