Abstract
Background of the Study. On November 20, 1959, a composite of the world's finest thinking unanimously adopted and proclaimed a Declaration of the rights of the Child in which was set forth those rights and freedoms which every child, without exception, should enjoy. One of the purposes of the authors of this dissertation is to illustrate how the Family Service Unit of Manhattan Catholic Charities devoted itself to the philosophy of the United Nations Declaration of the Rights of the child.
