Abstract

Priests, Religious and lay people have been sent to Puerto Rico to learn the language of the people and acquaint themselves with their culture in order to prepare themselves to serve the immigrants in New York. However, these special efforts in favor of the immigrant group are not limited to the Church. Similar efforts have been made by several city and private agencies. It is the purpose of this dissertation to explore the validity of a special program developed by Family Service of Catholic Charities of the Archdiocese of New York.
