Abstract

Background and Timeliness of the Study. The comprehensive goal of the visiting nurse is to preserve the home and the family, which is the main unit of society. Her field is the community in which she works, its total population and its health resources. The profession itself is a dynamic one with an extraordinary social awareness that is influenced by its dual aims--to nurture the health and welfare of the individual and his family and at the same time to share in the work involved in mass prevention of disease.Initially the methods utilized by the nursing profession were crude, governed largely by human instinct, but through a gradual process of learning and experience the profession has maintained its pace. forward through scientific advancements and currently nursing is a highly scientific and skilled profession.
