Block Associations in Manhattan: A Survey of Thirteen Neighbourhood Organizations Dealing With Street Maintenance and Improvement, 1918-1960

Abstract

This dissertation is a study of thirteen block associations which have been formed in New York City, Borough of Manhattan, between 1918 and 1958. It will be an analysis of these organizations composed of property owners and/or tenants in several neighborhoods or communities of the borough. The research is based upon a survey conducted between September 15, 1960, and January 1, 1961.
