Abstract

Generally speaking, people have the tendency to think that delinquency is a present day phenomena or at least not far from being a problem of the current decade. They forget that the problem is as old as community living. This is especially true of the City of New York where we can find so many people of different races, 1 nationalities and religious background. In the past two decades, the problem has been brought to the public eye and the people have become more aware of juvenile delinquency and its increasing rates. It is understandable that every one should become concerned when we hear on the radio and television, or read in the press of gang exploits and individual delinquent acts. Very seldom, however, do people stop to think that they were teenagers once and that no matter where any person was raised, there were delinquent acts of a major or lesser degree.
