Supervised Study in History in the Junior High School Grades

May G Sullivan, Fordham University

Abstract

For many years, the process of studying received very little consideration. Teachers themselves lacked a clear conception of what constituted proper study and consequently gave little thought to its cultivation.Studying in its higher sense is the process of assimilating knowledge. It is, in short, reflective and purposive thinking. It has a definite end in view and ideas are selected and controlled so as to accomplish this end.
