Abstract

The use of alcohol has had a long and very interesting history. In different societies it has had a great variety of forms and meanings. Civilizations have sprung up, flourished, and then disappeared, only to have new ones evolve. In this great cycle of history, nevertheless, alcohol has almost always found a firm place at every time in history, and on every place on earth.
