Alexander P Nevins, Fordham University

Abstract

The three R's have held a prominent position in the curriculum of the American elementary schools since the days of 175. These three R's consist of reading, 'riting and 'rithmetic. The subject matter and the methods of teaching these subjects have changed from time to time. Still there exists in each of the three for mentioned subjects a certain amount of matter that will never change. This certain amount of matter is the core, the essential, the rick bottom foundation of the subjects.
