The Modern Movement Toward the Establishment of the Class as a Homogeneous Unit
Abstract
The outstanding feature of the educational tendency during the past few years is the attempt to group children into divisions alike in matters either physical or mental. Formerly we found the class in the elementary school a potpourri, an admixture, a heterogeneous gathering. Here were grouped the cripple, the cardiac case, the child suffering from anemia, the young mentally alert pupil, the child of very average ability, the overage and retarded boy or girl, and even the feeble-minded child.
