Abstract
A major concern in the United States today is the adequate education of its children and youth. Our national and local governments, professional groups and lay citizens are confronted with expanding problems in educating increasing masses of school-age children. The issues in this challenge are diverse and vast. They extend from our nation’s need to successfully repel threats to its democracy to educating its children to live and achieve in a competitive society.
