Child Guidance Practice: Using a Marital Role Questionnaire at Intake
Abstract
The Astor Child Guidance Center in its six years of operation has provided a setting for interest in and research of marriage and its relationship to the treatment of children and their families. The clinic which uses a traditional child guidance approach is located in a small town, Rhinebeck, in Dutchess County, is 90 miles north of New York City and is both a rural and suburban community. The location, in recent years, of large IBM facilities has markedly increased the average income level and educational level of the population. Approximately 200 patients (parents and children) are served during the year. The staff consists of a full time psychiatrist, one full time psychologist, one part time psychologist, two part time psychology interns, two full time and one part time trained social workers, one student social worker and secretarial staff.
