A Just Wage

J. F Garcia, Fordham University

Abstract

The problem of a just wage is this. Throughout the world, and throughout the United States in particular, there is taken in every year a certain sum of money from the sale of manufactures, agricultural products, personal services, etc. In which four factors have played a part, the land owner, the loaner of Capital,' the employer, and the laborer or wage earner. The problem which this paper considers is “How much of that income should the wage earner receive?” To be more specific, a factory takes in from the sale of its product in one year $500,000.00. Upon whit standards of priority and right should we judge the amount that should be given to the wage earner?
