Adoption Referrals, A Statistical Analysis of 201 Children Referred to the New York Foundling Hospital, June 1951-June1952

Abstract

The placement of children for adoption is one of the very important responsibilities of the social agency. Every child in our society has the right to love, understanding, protection, emotional security and the training of parents. It is the responsibility of the agency to see that these rights are accorded the child whose natural parents cannot supply them. The social welfare field throughout the world has become cognizant of these facts and great strides have been made to perfect services in individual agencies. However, with all the interest of the public, all the attention, work and planning of the agency, there are still children who cannot be placed.
