Puerto Rican Migration Division of the Department of Labor of Puerto Rico: A Study of the Functions and Programs to Help the Puerto Rican Migrant, 1948 to 1963
Abstract
This study is primarily concerned with the effectiveness of the functions and programs offered by the Puerto Rican Migration Division in an effort to smooth out the process of adjustment of the Puerto Rican migrant in the mainland. My interest in writing about this topic grew out of an awareness that very little, if anything, is known by the social workers that I have met about the undertakings of the Migration Division. It is felt that the Puerto Rican is not well understood by the receiving people, including the professional social worker who frequently is called to give casework service.
