Contributions of the Ursulines to Education in the Archdiocese of New York
Abstract
The Ursulines, far from being confined to one locality as the title of this work might infer, are scattered throughout the entire world. Only a small percentage of the twenty thousand members are to be found within the Arch- diocese of New York. This Order of Religious Women was founded by Saint Angela Merici over four hundred years ago (1535) and has an uninterrupted record of energetic, whole- hearted service in the fulfillment of the special end for which it was founded, namely, "the instruction and education of young girls."
