An Optimization Technique for Item Pool Evaluation with Guidance for Modification of Item Pools and Test Specifications
Abstract
Whether test forms can be assembled optimally to satisfy test specifications is decided, to a large extent, by the adequacy of item pools. Using a mixed integer programming technique, this study offers a general method to evaluate the adequacy of existing item pools. An overall evaluation of item pools and corresponding directions on how to improve the quality of item pools are provided.
