Serving them is killing me: Using technology as a vehicle for self-care for bi-vocational pastors in the Black Church
Abstract
This project will explore the benefits of using technology for self-care for bi-vocational pastors in the "Black Church." Examining how personality types and work environments affect the stressors of the Black pastor. The author of this project is a bi-vocational pastor serving in a "Black Church." For the purpose of this project African Methodist Episcopal Ebenezer Church in Rahway, New Jersey and their pastor will be used as a model. This project will discuss: The unique role and responsibilities of a pastor in the "Black Church," bi-vocational pastoring, personality types, the importance of pastoral self-care and the use of technology in the postmodern church.
