Abstract
Despite hearing about scandals and crimes that companies commit, it is difficult to comprehend the extent of the consequences that result. It usually takes months, if not years, to observe all the repercussions. Volkswagen's Dieselgate scandal is a significant incident in the automotive industry, where the company intentionally deceived both consumers and regulators for its own benefit. Having taken place in 2015, ten years have passed as of 2025 since the information was originally exposed. With the advantage of historical data and distance, Dieselgate serves as a case study for this paper's exploration of how different systems (stock market, legal proceedings, and the company itself) reacted to the event. Through the exploration, it becomes clear that the severity of punishments differs from system to system.
