Abstract
Various studies have established the significance of impression management tactics on ratings of competence and likability in interview settings. Additionally, a link between personality and impression management tactics has been shown. This study further examined the link between personality and impression management as it relates to mock interview performance. Using an innovative virtual reality program, this study found that extraversion plays a role as a moderator in the relationship between impression management and performance. Further, this study established an operationalized model for use in virtual reality studies as they relate to public speaking and interview performance.
