Abstract
The purpose of this paper is to investigate whether sell-side analysts focus on CSR information and to what extent. This is the first study that provides direct evidence of analyst attention to CSR. The research method used in this paper is analyst report methodology, which is a quantitative method measuring the frequency of a list of CSR expressions appearance in analyst reports. The central idea of this methodology is that a higher frequency of CSR expressions appearance would indicate a higher analyst focus on CSR. In this paper, the analysis contains a sample of 486 S&P companies in 2017. The findings of this paper show that at least a group of analysts are aware of CSR and mention CSR information in their reports.
