This site posts detailed instructions for a digital humanities assignment given to an interdisciplinary capstone class on the archaeology and history of medieval London at Fordham University. The original class was taught as a study abroad course at Fordham's London Centre. The course required students to use an open-access digital platform called Omeka to create two online exhibitions; one on a medieval object associated with London and the other on a site in medieval London. Kowaleski repeated the course in Fall 2017, 2019, and 2020 at Fordham’s home campus, but with only a (slightly longer) object report, and under the rubric HIST 4654. The files below are the handouts designed to help students with the assignment; the 2020 Guide contains the most up-to-date and complete set of instructions and resources for the assignment. Also incuded below is a link to an article on thie original study-abroad assignment: Esther Liberman Cuenca and Maryanne Kowaleski, "Omeka and Other Digital Platforms for Undergraduate Research Projects on the Middle Ages.
