Abstract
This paper explores the effects of the gender of acquiring companies’ Chief Executive Officers and Chief Financial Officers, seeking to address the question of whether there are gender differences in executives’ approach to acquisitions. Looking at the presence of at least one female in these two positions, I analyze the impact on acquisition deals in regards to transaction value as well as ratios of transaction value to the target company’s sales and EBIT. Several industries are evaluated with the presence of at least one female executive nearly always resulting in a lower transaction value and ratios. However, while the economic magnitude of the differences was noteworthy, the results were largely statistically insignificant.
