Abstract
The advent of live stream technology and online distribution is revolutionizing the media and entertainment industry, raising concerns about its impact on traditional theatre ticket sales. This study investigates the effects of live streaming on theatre productions, focusing on the live stream of "She Loves Me" and its reception on Twitter. Through content analysis of selected tweets, the study aims to uncover viewer interests and sentiment, providing insights into the potential benefits of live streaming for Broadway producers in terms of promotion and revenue. The findings reveal an overwhelmingly positive response on Twitter, with particular emphasis on the appreciation for theatrical script and production design elements. This suggests that live streaming may complement rather than cannibalize traditional theatre attendance, offering new avenues for engagement and monetization.
