Abstract

Abstract prepared by Mary Routh and Raegan Morse Deborah Stevens moved to New York City from Memphis, Tennessee when she was 27 after attending a playwriting workshop in Connecticut. She describes being completely enamored by New York City after her experience with the playwriting group, and moved back to the city two short weeks after returning from her workshop. Her life in the city has been nothing short of compelling– from facing eviction and robberies in her early career to training and working with J.P Morgan Chase, Deborah has worked incredibly hard to thrive and give back in the city that never sleeps, which is reflected deeply in her work as a volunteer with the SAGE center.
